Voluntari
In the year 2000, the volunteer organization "Voluntari Engiadina" was created ahead of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships of 2003.
During the World Cup and the European Cup Races of the two winters preceding the World Championships, it evolved into an effective platform that ultimately reunited 453 women and 847 men from 14 nations between the ages of 13 and 86 to assist in the World Championships. Deployed in 140 teams, they put in a total of 25,000 workdays for the benefit of the racing organization, logistics, constructions, social events, racing office, media, marketing and administration of the event.
The success of the World Championships of 2003 was not least due to the excellent atmosphere among the Voluntaris and their imperturbable helpfulness that contributed to making this major event in St. Moritz a memorable experience for visitors, athletes and media alike.
The organization was kept alive even after the close of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and continues to assist in the annual Ski World Cup events held in St. Moritz – which without them would be unthinkable.
