The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017 have awarded 33 medals in eleven competitions. The two-week long ski party, which has taken place in St. Moritz for the fifth time, wraps up as a big success on all levels.
St. Moritz has experienced superior World Championships, showcasing exciting and highly competitive ski races. During the first week of competition, the weather has posed major challenges to the organizers. Nevertheless, all races were held on outstanding slopes. Starting from the so-called “Super Sunday”, where two downhill races were contested on one day, the competitions have been accompanied with bright sunshine.
The number of spectators has surpassed the expectations for all competitions. Thousands of ski fans, who flocked to the finish area at Salastrains have created a thrilling and fair atmosphere, fostered by the outstanding results of the Swiss Ski athletes. Besides the competitions, the audience has enjoyed a variety of entertainment programs in the finish area, at Kulm Park and in the pedestrian area of St. Moritz. Edy, the 19 meter tall 3-D ski monument has watched over the international alpine ski family.
We will have the pleasure of welcoming the ski family back in Salastrains in December for the Ladies World Cup. More information on the races from 9 to 12 December 2017 will be available soon.
